Golf Courses near Attleboro MA
Chemawa Golf Course
This is my top choice for public golf courses near Attleboro MA. The course has an interesting layout that is challenging and fun at the same time with a beautiful natural setting. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens are always in great shape, similar to a private course.
The front 9 is par 36, but its layout is an interesting 7 par-4’s, one par-5, and one par-3. Some of the par-4s are short and can be driveable if you hit a solid tee shot. Most of the holes have wide-open fairways lined with trees and some bunkers protecting the greens.
Hole #9 is a 140-yard Par-3 with a pond in front of the green. The challenging holes are #6 and #7 because both have very narrow fairways and force you to be smart off the tee, very high-risk/high-reward type holes.
The back 9 also has an interesting layout with four par-3s and five par-4s. The fairways are open, and scattered with trees and greenside bunkers. #11 is a short 125-yard par-3, but you have to hit onto an elevated green where you can barely see the top of the flag, so use your rangefinder with slope to get an idea of what club to hit. #13 is a 146-yard par-3 with ponds on both sides of the fairway about 10 yards before the green, so you must be accurate off the tee.
You finish the round on the #2 handicap hole of the course, which is a 410-yard par-4 that has a landing area of around 220 yards before a creek cuts across some tall grass.
From there, you still have to hit it 200 yards to reach the green, so it can easily ruin a good round on your way into the clubhouse. Chemawa is a fantastic course for the price, and my top choice for public golf courses near Attleboro MA.

Stone-E-Lea Golf Course
Stone-E-Lea Golf Course is an 18-hole golf course that makes the list because there are always tee times available, which for me on a teacher’s schedule, is a great thing during the summer. I’m not saying it’s a bad course, but it’s not going to host a PGA event anytime soon.
It’s in great shape early in the season with lush tees, fairways, and rolled greens. However, it does dry out once it gets into the hot season during July and August, so it can throw some golfers off. I love it because of the availability and the great value you get when playing it. During the 2023 season, it was $50 for 18 with a cart.
The course has a variety of holes that make it challenging for golfers of all skill levels. There are some doglegs with blind shots, including #10, which is a 470-yard par-5 that has a dogleg left where you have to hit it at over 200 yards even to see the green. It also has a few lonnggg par-3s that require distance and accuracy off the tee.
#4 is 165 yards uphill, so you really have to hit it 180 to the green, and #18 is a finishing hole par-3 that is level ground but plays at 210 from the white tees.
There are several holes with either elevated tees or greens, so you have to be dialed in with your distances to score low.
They also offer a prepaid card with tee time deals and free credits for food and drink. I play here around 5 times a year and always have a good time; there is enough value, availability, and challenge to keep me returning to one of the good golf courses near Attleboro MA.

Golf courses near Attleboro MA: Plainville MA
Heather Hill Country Club
Heather Hill Country Club is on the list of golf courses near Attleboro MA for availability and the great people who work there. This course is 10 minutes from my house and always has open tee times, so I play there probably 10 times a year.
It is also not a course that will host a PGA event, but it is challenging, and even when the parking lot is full, you can get out for a round.
Heather Hill Country Club has 27 holes, labeled as one 9-hole course (North Course) and one 18-hole public course (Middle/South Courses).
However, the pro shop guys are awesome and will let you tee off on whichever nine is open. I have played each course multiple times and in every combination (North/Middle, North/South, Middle/South, South/North, etc.)
Another great thing is that when it is slow you can hit multiple balls each shot and/or double back and play a few hole over again.
All of this availability and generosity from the staff make this a top pick for me for golf courses near Attleboro MA.
As for the courses: each has its own challenges, and each can be fun, but the best time to play here is early in the season when the fairways still have lush grass covering them. Later in the season, it turns into a links-style turf, and grass can be hard to find.
My favorite is the North course because of the variety of holes you get: some short par-4s, some doglegs, usually wide-open fairways, and challenging tiny greens to attack.
The Middle course would be next because it has some short par-4s that tempt you to go for it off the tee. It also has some tough dogleg shots off the tees and back-to-back par-3s that force you to focus and not have a mishit.
The South is still a good option, but I feel it has too many gimmicky holes where you can’t play a true shot off the tee. #4, 6, and 9 are dogleg par-4s that you have to hit irons off the tee to the landing areas because you can’t hit driver.
The toughest hole on this course is #3, a 520-yard par-5, where you have to hit over 375 yards to even see the green. The hole plays like you are hitting up a hill to the fairway, then down the other side of the hill down to the green, which can be very tricky to reach in regulation. This is a nice course that offers availability and quality early in the season, so that is why it made the list as one of the golf courses near Attleboro MA.

Wentworth Hills Country Club
Wentworth Hills Country Club is the sister course to Heather Hills but on another level as far as quality and amenities.
Wentworth Hills is also in Plainville but is truly one of the best hidden gem golf courses near Attleboro MA. It is off the beaten path, but you get bang for your buck because of the course conditions and the hi-tech golf carts.
The carts are bluetooth compatible, have music, gps yardage, a scorecard, videos with tips from Greg Norman, and you can order food for when you get to the turn. Everything to enhance your golf experience.
This is one of the golf courses near Attleboro MA that is always in amazing shape, and they have continuous cart paths so you can ride no matter the weather conditions. And living in this area, we all know how quickly weather conditions can change.
The course is short, playing at 5300 yards from the white tees, but it has a lot of challenging holes.
Hole #1 is a 330-yard par-4 but trees block a direct approach. Instead, you have to hit a tee shot to the landing area 190 yards which is uphill in order to have an approach at the green.
Several other holes have wicked doglegs that force you to play it safe and aim for the fairway landing zone in order to have a clear approach shot.
Most other holes have narrow fairways lined by trees, with some fairway bunkers and some green-side bunkers.
Holes #8 and #17 sandwich a huge pond so for both of these par-3s, you have to clear the water to make it to the green.
This is one of the top-notch golf courses near Attleboro MA that is reasonably priced, so check it out to enjoy a great round of golf.

My recommended local spot for Italian: Cafe Assisi (667 South St #5, Wrentham, MA 02093)
Golf courses near Attleboro MA: Norton MA
Norton Country Club
Norton Country Club is a great course that is high quality and challenging. This is a tight course with trees lining almost every fairway, so you might want to bring a few extra balls.
It is always in great condition and meets the standards of a country club that is open to the public.
It is actually semi-private so there are some restrictions for tee times on weekends. But the price is great for the quality of the layout. The course is short, playing at 5280 yards from the white tees and a total par of 71, but the layout is challenging and will require a lot of accuracy with every shot.
Holes 4 and 5 are back-to-back par-5s so this can make or break your round right off the bat. They play 450 and 490 so it is crucial to get to the green in regulation so you can start with a good score.
There are some water hazards and greenside bunkers, but the challenge is keeping the ball in play with the tight fairways.
The coolest hole is #12, a 125-yard par-3, where you have to clear a fairway completely made of water to reach the green. This is another hidden gem for golf courses near Attleboro MA, and one you should put on your bucket list.

The Links at Mass Golf
The Links at Mass Golf is a par-3 public golf course near Attleboro MA, and is a great place to work on your short game.
Most holes range from 75-130 yards, but #17 is 235 and #18 is 156 to combine for a tough finish to this great course.
The course is wide open except for a few holes with trees in your line of sight off the tee to put some pressure on. There are some bunkers around the greens and a few ponds, but the greens are immaculate and always roll true.
They also have golf simulators in the clubhouse, so you can play all year to work on your game. This is one of the only short golf courses near Attleboro MA, to work on your short game, it is an easy walking course, and the price is very fair for the quality you get.

TPC Boston
TPC Boston is a championship-level course that has hosted PGA events since 2003. TPC Boston is the ultimate place to play for golf courses near Attleboro MA. But….it is private so getting an invite can be completely about how lucky you are.
The course was redesigned in 2007 by the expert designer Gil Hanse with the help of Rhode Island native and PGA legend Brad Faxon. Set in the middle of a forest, this is not a walking-friendly course because it is so spread out. However, the New England setting can’t be beaten, and it reminds me of a course designed in the early 1900s with gnarly bunkers, ponds, and streams jutting throughout, and 30′ trees shadowing your tee shots.
If you were crazy enough to play from the Championship tees, it runs at 7200 yards, but like most of us who play the whites, it is still long at 6100 yards. This privately owned facility is PGA certified, so if you ever get the chance to play it, you have to…or DM me, and I’ll take your place.

Golf courses near Attleboro MA: Foxborough MA
Foxborough Country Club
Foxborough CC is a championship 18-hole course designed by Geoffrey Cornish that is always in great condition and drips with natural beauty. It is a semi-private course, with limited tee times Monday – Thursday for when it is open to the public.
The price is more expensive than public courses, but is a great deal for this high quality of a course. The course is beautiful from tee to green, and the tall trees that line most fairways offer shade but can be scary off the tee. The greens are some of the best around, with subtle slopes, but are lightning fast.
The greens are very large so you can hit your approach onto them, but the speed makes it easy to 3-putt. Another challenge is some doglegs that require you to be accurate off the tee. There are some fairway and greenside bunkers to worry about, but the big greens make it a little more comfortable when hitting your irons.
Hole #7 is a 300-yard par-4 that dares you to hit it over water and trees to cut the corner on the dogleg right. The safe play is a 150-yard iron off the tee to the middle of the fairway…but what fun is that! This is truly one of the best semi-private golf courses near Attleboro MA, and worth the visit.
